Propaganda has an ancient history. Imagine Eve
blaming the snake for eating the fruit of a tree that she was told
not to eat. How did she ever trust the snake that she blamed? What
if it had been poisoned, how many of us would be around today? What
an amazing chance she took with all of our lives. Although amusing,
propaganda on an international and national level is being passed
out as press releases and only the astute sophisticated news
follower can differentiate between the doer of the act and the ploy
used to disguise it. Sage journals online has an excellent article
on propaganda titled "Analysis of Propaganda Broadcasts".
The fact that such a study was done and reported and not picked up
by any news agency whether on regular news channels or on cable or
even on world news like CNN is not at all surprising. How can they
justify their reporting if they allow to the fact that propaganda
as a normal part of broadcasting is not only alive and well but
flourishing. To blame those news agencies would be to do them a
disservice because even if countries where freedom of the press is
a Constitutional right, censorship is alive and well and those
censors can spout of the same causes for censorship as a country
like China. The propaganda press, however, can be immediately
caught by the nature of their stories. Mostly, their stories have
to do with person's, places, events, history, and very little to do
with actual current news.
